Where Every Line Becomes a Living Story

Shantell Martin and the Momentum Design Studio first collaborated to translate her drawings, thoughts, and musings into textiles—marking the artist’s first venture into contract textiles. Since then, we’ve partnered again to introduce three of Shantell’s signature patterns as PVC-free wallcoverings.

Drawn into Design

A Language of Characters

Part autobiographical and part dreamlike whimsy, Shantell Martin has created her own world that bridges fine art, commerce, and everyday experience—through conversations, objects, and spaces. Known for drawing on anything she encounters, from walls to shoes to herself, Shantell has built a distinctive body of work that continues to challenge traditional creative boundaries.

Shantell has collaborated with Momentum across several design industry events, including serving as keynote speaker at Interior Design Giants in 2017, where she spoke to more than 200 leading designers and architects about her creative journey.

In 2017, Shantell Martin’s fabrics became part of the permanent collection at the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum in New York, where Momentum partnered with the museum to upholster atrium pillows in her designs for its spring textile exhibition. Since then, her globally recognized practice has expanded across museum exhibitions, immersive installations, institutional projects, and collaborations with leading cultural and commercial brands. In 2025, she was awarded an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) for her contributions to British art and charity.
